Caring 4 You Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was started for Cumberland County College Nursing Students in order to help meet the financial burdens of the National Council of Licensure Examination (NCLEX) at the end of the college year. This scholarship was started by myself in March 2001. It will award 10 students $200.00 to take the Boards at the appointed time of the student's choosing. It is my hope that this seed of kindness will eventually grow large enough for the entire class to receive this scholarship.

I will be involved in the selection process concerning The Caring 4 You Scholarship Fund along with the CCC Foundation Board Members. All applicant's identities will remain anonymous until after the selection process and the award will be given out during the Nursing Ceremony at Cumberland County College. The Dedication Behind the Scholarship

I graduated from CCC May of l996. I am not ashamed to admit it because it is the reason this site was born and today, helps many students across the Nation, and even Guam, pass their exam for licensure through advice, poetry, and support, but I myself failed the NCLEX two times. It was the lowest point in my life and at the time, I did not know how I would cope. When I graduated Nursing, I was not working and my bank account went down to $5.00 because I had to keep paying to take the Boards. Naturally, I was then forced to go to work. After taking the Boards and waiting to pass, I got a job as a Certified Nurses Aide for $6.25 an hour!~ Believe me, I know the financial need nursing students have. Thus, the birth of The Caring 4 You Scholarship Fund "Healing the community by caring 4 you".

About The Scholarship

The Caring 4 You Scholarship Fund is not based on grades. A financial need would be applicable of course but what this scholarship is really based on and really wants to foster is the giving inside of all of us. If given the opportunity, how would you give back to the community to which you live? I wanted to foster the "giving" part of life in any aspect. The smallest random act of kindness can have the biggest rewards when we least expect it. This is what I am hoping the The Caring 4 You Scholarship Fund will foster. "We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give".

Criteria For This Scholarship

For now, you must be a current student of Cumberland County College in your last semester before graduation in the year you wish to apply for the scholarship. In the future, I plan on giving a separate $200.00 award to any individual who contacts me via the internet. But for now, my scholarship fund is funded by the services I offer at Caring 4 You and my own personal funds. Therefore, the need for funding is great and must go to my local college first. As my "hobby" grows, my giving will then be able to be passed along to the internet.
The criteria for the scholarship will be based heavily upon a 500 word essay, When given the opportunity, how will you give back to your community?

Of course, a financial need would be applicable but not solely a criteria.

If you have a website that is truly informational in nature and is non profit, I would like to give you the award. Not a personal page or a page that has a few links, but a truly informational page such as Caring4You.net. It can be on ANY subject matter or passion. The reasoning behind this is the fact that I know maintaining a website takes a lot of time and work. If you are willing to give of your time now, you are well on your way to giving back to your community in some way and this is what The Caring 4 You Scholarship Fund is trying to foster.

How The Scholarship Is Funded

My goal is to have at least $2000.00 available each year to pay for 10 students to take their NCLEX. If the NCLEX prices increase, the limit will have to increase as well. At present, The Caring 4 You Scholarship Fund is funded through my own personal finances.
In the future I plan on having fund raising events with the help of those around me. If these events should occur, they will be posted on my web site at http://caring4you.net  in the future.
