Gene N Garrison, 85, of Bridgeton died Tuesday July 19th 2005 at his home following a brief illness. Predeceased by his wife of fifty-seven years, Flora (nee Frost) Garrison, who died in July of 2003, he was born in Bridgeton and was the son of the late Joel Leslie Garrison and the late Alice Elizabeth (nee Simpkins) Garrison.

A resident of the same address for over fifty years, Mr. Garrison was employed by the Martin Dye Corporation in Bridgeton for forty-six years. He retired in l986.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Garrison served in the 4130th Army Airforce Base Unit as a Military Police Officer. He served from June 1942 until being honorably discharged in January of 1946 with the rank of Technical Sergeant. During his years of service, he received the American Theater, Good Conduct, and WWII Victory Medals.

Mr. Garrison was a member and Past Commander of Shoemaker Post #95 American Legion in Bridgeton. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythius and the First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeton.

He is survived by two sons, Garry Neal Garrison and Joel Frost Garrison both at home, one sister, Frances E. Probasco of Shiloh, one brother James Wilkinson Garrison of Hammonton and numerous nieces and nephews and a former daughter-in-law, beloved by the family, Anneliese Garrison, RN. Mr. Garrison was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert S. Garrison, Kennedy R. Garrison and Charles W. “Chick” Garrison.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the memorial service at the FREITAG FUNERAL HOME 137 West Commerce Street in Bridgeton on Monday afternoon July 25th at 2 o’clock The interment of the cremated remains will follow the services at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1 until 2. Memorial contributions are suggested in Mr. Garrison’s memory to the charity of ones choice.
