Flora F. Garrison, 83, of Bridgeton died Wednesday July 23, 2003 at S.J.
Hospital- Bridgeton where she had been a patient in intensive care.
The wife of Gene N. Garrison, she was born in Corona, Alabama and was the
daughter of the late Daniel Floyd Frost and the late Sarah Kirk Frost. She
was also predeceased by her step mother, Alla Mae Bowden Frost. She was raised
in Illinois and had been a longtime resident of Bridgeton; having lived at
her current address over fifty years.
For several years Mrs. Garrison was the secretary at the First Presbyterian
Church in Bridgeton. Prior to her employment at the church she worked as
a bookkeeper at the former Cowan Printing in Bridgeton. At one time she was
also employed at the J.C. Penney Store in Bridgeton.
Mrs. Garrison was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeton
and was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Shoemaker Post #95 American
Legion. She had served as that organization’s president and secretary and
was also a former president of the county legion auxiliary.
Mr. and Mrs. Garrison would have celebrated their fifty-eighth wedding anniversary
this August 7th.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Garry N. Garrison
and his wife
Anneliese and Joel F. Garrison both of Bridgeton, three sisters,
Rita McFarling of California, MD, Adonza Cruiseius of Canton, N.C. and Ruth
Tomsey of Pembroke Pines, FL, two brothers, Richard Frost of Hialeah, FL
and Daniel Frost of Atlanta, GA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by two sisters, Helen Pohl and Priscilla Stewart and one brother Benjamin
Clayton Frost.
A memorial service will be held at the
Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce
St., Bridgeton on Friday afternoon July 25th at 2 P.M.
The interment of the cremated remains will follow at the Cumberland County
Veteran’s Cemetery in Hopewell Township.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday afternoon one hour prior
to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the
donor’s choice.
